The start of a new year calls for a new perspective and serious intention setting! What do you want to focus on this year?? What do you want from your classroom??These questions are usually hot topics of discussion both at school with my colleagues and students and at home. To prompt some thinking on this topic, at our first teaching team meeting of the year I created a fringe wall of colourful 'one world resolutions' from templates I found over at The Art Bar Blog. I came across her blog after listening to the Art Made Easy podcast (an amazing resource for creative teachers!) and hearing her story from designer to running her very own home art studio for children - a dream of mine! I LOVE scrolling through the creative curation of projects by Bar Rucci, you must take a look!Coming back to the teaching term after the summer break can take a while to get back into the demands of curriculum writing and lesson planning. So I was totally on board with the simplicity of setting some one word resolutions for our team members and our creative class rooms. The colourful fringe of adjectives, blu tacked to the whiteboard, was coupled with some prompting statements."What do you want to focus on personally this year . . . ""What do you want to focus on in your classroom this year . . . "It was so fun seeing what words would be the focus of our year and a little peek of insight into everyone's goals. We elaborated on what each word would mean to us and why it was important. I picked CREATE (for me) and SIMPLICITY (for my classroom).
